[ARCHIVED] Public Meeting Scheduled to Discuss Open Space

The City of Saratoga Springs Open Space Advisory Committee is planning an Open Space Forum on September 28th at 6:30 PM at the Arts Center - 320 Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY - to engage the community’s residents and business owners in a discussion about priorities for open space, greenways and trails, and resource protection. Topics up for discussion include: municipal policies for the acquisition of open space, updates to the 2002 Open Space Plan, and trail acquisition and management.

The committee will give an overview of lands purchased through the open space bond act and then open up a facilitated community dialogue to identify potential opportunities for open space as well as mechanisms to finance the purchase of open lands. In 2002, Saratoga Springs voters approved Proposition No. 1 of 2002 to establish a bond program to protect, preserve, enhance, and improve environmentally sensitive, recreational and scenic land by a margin of 74%. As of September of 2016, only $260,000 of the fund remains uncommitted.

This event is free and open to the public. Residents and businesses as well as individuals from conservation commissions, watershed organizations, land trusts, open space, bike, and trail organizations are encouraged to attend.
