SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY. – Mayor Joanne Yepsen announces a special City Council Meeting scheduled for Wednesday, December 14 at 1:00 - 3 p.m. in the City Council Room to discuss Affordable Housing.

The meeting will be open to the public and include public comment as do all council meetings. It will also be streamed on the internet.

Key staff from the City’s Planning and Community Development departments and members of the Affordable Housing Task Force will be leading presentations and discussions.  Topics on the agenda include:

AFFH: Affirm Furthering Fair Housing Presentation

HUD:  Assessment of Fair Housing – Consolidation & AFH  Plan 2020

         Community Development:  Historical Perspective

         Local Market Study Results

         Affordable Housing Tools & Solutions

"While it is important to point out and continue our collective prosperity, let us not forget all citizens cannot afford the above market rents and sale prices of homes and condos in our City. We are a hospitality city and we need a variety of price points offered for our working families, seniors and young professionals", the Mayor stated.

She continues, "In addition there are HUD standards and new laws that we need to present, discuss and plan for." The special city council meeting will focus on building awareness, discuss potential solutions and plan next steps.
