City Hall was struck by lightning on Friday evening, August 17, 2018. Due to fire and water
related damage the building will be closed until further notice. City Hall functions will
continue at the City Recreation facility located at 15 Vanderbilt as soon as possible, with
the exact day and time to be announced as soon as feasible.
The Police Department will
continue operating, uninterrupted, at 5 Lake Avenue.
The City is operating in accordance with its City Emergency Manage Plan, created in
collaboration with the Risk and Safety Department, Police and Fire Departments, all other City
departments, insurance and other experts in the field, and voted on by City Council.
At this
time, the Mayor is the Point of Information to the public.
The City will continue to provide updates as information becomes available.
The City Council
meeting scheduled for 6:00 pm on Tuesday, August 21, 2018 will be held at the Saratoga Springs
City Center. The corresponding Pre-Agenda meeting scheduled for 9:30 am, Monday, August
20, 2018 will be held at 9:30 am in the Recreation Center.
Police, Fire, Risk and Safety, Public Works, Information Technology, and every single City
department is facing this challenge with courage, resourcefulness, collaboration, and hard work.
