Contact: David Snyder, Executive Assistant to Mayor Meg Kelly

(518) 587-3550 ext. 2520

Mayor Meg Kelly announces today that the City’s State of Emergency will expire today, Friday, June 12. Per the recommendation of the City Emergency Management Committee, the Mayor will not extend it for another period of time.

On Tuesday, June 16, the City Council will vote on the City’s COVID-19 Re-Opening Safety Plan.  Anticipating that the Council will approve the Plan, it will be effective on June 17.  This Safety Plan, required by the Governor’s guidelines for businesses and organizations, outlines the protocols and procedures for work environments, employees and for the public.

The schedule for moving employees into City Hall is set and should be complete during the week of June 29.  The Mayor plans for the July 7th City Council meeting to be in-person, and it will be open for the public to attend. There will be maximum occupancy limitations, and access and safety protocols that will be outlined and announced separately.

Pending Department of Public Works approval, and with the Safety Plan in place, the Mayor estimates that City Hall offices will re-open to the public by mid-July. Further details will be released in the coming weeks regarding the protocols that will be in place when City Hall opens and for when in-person Council meetings resume.
